Copy This Look: Red-Carpet Clutches

These chic cases let you carry just the basics in style.

We're still tracking down some eco-friendly ways to copy your favorite Oscar looks (Angelina’s earrings! Penelope's dress!)—but until then, satisfy your creative urges and your fashion obsession with Threadbanger's take on the other stars of the red carpet: the bags. From jewel-toned clamshell clutches to satin snap-closures, their roundup gives you the patterns, materials, and instructions to make your own sweet carryall. We especially liked the details on making a clutch with an antique pin closure; while the fabrics used in the tutorial are more Lily Pulitzer than I'd-like-to-thank-the-Academy, swap them out for a more formal look and you'll be ready to tackle all your spring flings.
