Help! Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and I'm flipping out about what to get my guy of five years. I want to avoid the same lame-o card and sports-oriented gift certificate routine, but if I go the flower or lingerie route, he'll think I'm trying too hard. Any suggestions?
I'm all about gifts that go above and beyond. Cards are traditional Valentine's mementos, so this year I'm spicing it up with a Hallmark (RED) Card. At least 20 percent of the card is made out of post-consumer recycled paper, and part of the proceeds go to help fight AIDS in Africa. I think the PUCKE(RED) card is totally cool, but there are lots to choose from. I also got a $20 bottle of water from Charity: Water. I know the concept seems expensive and anti-green at first, but the organization gives 100 percent of their profits to building wells and sanitary facilities in developing nations. Your purchase of their Valentine's Day water will provide a person in Africa drinking water for 20 years. (Just don't forget to recycle the bottle!) If you can't bring yourself to buy bottled water but like the charitable concept, you can purchase one of Charity: Water's e-cards.
Last is a practical gift. The Art of Shaving has some top-notch shaving kits that are free of alcohol, fragrances, and dyes. I don't know about you, but I like my men clean-shaven, and this company has an incredible selection for the man in your life. I've tried their products and I love them!
And guys, any one of these suggestions will work for the special woman in your life, too. Don't waste any more time, because Valentine's Day is right around the corner!
XOXO,
Summer Rayne
