Reusable grocery bags are wonderful. I have three—one's a tote bag from the West Hollywood Public Library, one's a nondescript plain white bag whose provenance I couldn't begin to guess at, and the third's a tote bag my company gave me with its name emblazoned on the side. + READ MORE

We all know that over time, living eco-friendly has a much lower price tag for all of us, but organic and earth-friendly products often have a sufficiently high short-term cost that blinds us to the long-term savings. + READ MORE

El Cid, the century-old flamenco dinner theater built by D.W. Griffith, is a stylish Los Angeles landmark, and though there's little need in balmy LA to keep heating costs low, the crimson portieres, or curtains hung in doorways, reminded me of just that. Portieres, after all, are a great way of keeping your house's temperature up and your heating costs low. + READ MORE

Sometimes, as much as you try to wear what you already have, you just really need/want a nice new pair of blue jeans. But what to do with the old pair? + READ MORE

Who doesn't love it when people bring goodies to the office? Bagels, doughnuts, cupcakes—doesn't matter much to me if it's healthy, just so long as it's free and yummy. But my office is small, and the few of us who work there are, by and large, picky eaters, which makes me wonder, why do people bring in a lot of one thing? Just because a dozen is the amount doughnut purveyors in which prefer to sell their rings of delicious evil doesn't mean that?s how many you have to buy when there are only eight people in your office, three of whom don't go near refined sugar without gloves and a mask on. + READ MORE

We all have that guy in the office, the one who's actually pretty cool, in a band, kinda scruffy-looking, but he just keeps tossing his soda bottles in his trash can. You're pretty sure it's less an ideological thing, more of a matter of laziness. Why recycle when you have your own trash bin right beneath you're desk? What do you do? He knows there's a recycling bin somewhere in the office, and you've dropped subtle hints he's just not taking. Hell, you've even snuck into his cubicle a few times to pick out the recyclables. You don't know what to do, and honestly, I feel your pain. + READ MORE

More often that not, what's good for the body is also good for the environment. Every morning, I take the stairs up to my office. Granted, I only work on the second floor, but there is an elevator available. The more energy I expend, the more my office can conserve. + READ MORE

Many of us spend almost all our daylight hours at the office. Our plants spend theirs in the dark in our homes. It's not just pets that feel human loss while we're gone. Our carbon dioxide is the sustenance of indoor plants, while the ones that live on the windowsill often get neglected because, well, sometimes we simply forget they?re there behind the Venetian blinds. + READ MORE

Do unto others as you?d have done unto yourself. One of the best ways to help the environment is to help others conserve energy. You already know how to give your gifts an eco-friendly cushion, but how to limit the carbon footprint your gift obtains on its route from you to your recipient? + READ MORE

Every night, my step-dad packs his lunch for work. He squirts a mustard smiley face on his deli meat, cuts his carrots, and makes sure everything's ready to go for his 4:00 AM departure. When you're diabetic, dietary regularity is paramount. + READ MORE
