Have you ever noticed how the heat tends to bring out the not-so-best in people? I have, as recent as a subway ride earlier this week. I could have let the ride get the better half of me, disturbing my increasing (but far from perfect) peace and tranquility of mind. I opted for the yogin's path instead to keep cool in body and mind. + READ MORE

Here's a new mode of travel that will please animal-lovers, kids, conservationists and armchair conservationists (like myself) alike: it's appropriately called conservation travel. And it's carving its deserved place in the tourism landscape, providing a refreshing alternative to beach-y, all-inclusive packages and other Plain Jane, been-there, done-that trips. + READ MORE

With the National Day of Unplugging approaching, I’m gearing up to make the most out of my tech-free 24-hours so they’re relaxing, rewarding and enriching. Basically, the antithesis of my myriad of days consumed by Facebook, Twitter, website updates, and blog posts. All things I love and pertinent to my career, but that all have the capacity to pull me away from the balance I seek between rest, play, and work. + READ MORE

There a few things perfectly acceptable to expect from conventional budget accommodations: outdated furnishings, that scratchy, synthetic comforter always draped over the bed, and a bed that serves as nothing more than a place to get some shut, not necessarily a sufficient beauty rest. There are, in my opinion, a few things completely unacceptable: dead roaches, bug bites and crusty sheets among other things. Other frugal travelers on TripAdvisor agree. Check out their Top 10 decidedly dirty hotels here in the US. + READ MORE

Last year, I shared a bit of humor from my little cousin, who unabashedly shared his Christmas gift list totaling over $1,000 in 11-year-old boy dream loot. As a twenty-something year old adult practicing the yogic (and very green) art of needing little, creating a wish list seems preposterous. Not only is it antithetical to my eco- and spiritual beliefs, I am lucky and blessed enough to not need anything. + READ MORE
